About Us

Word of Mouth has been operating for over 30 years, delivering delicious high-quality food to cafe customers and catering clients in central Wellington.

Our story dates back to 1989, when the original owners met. They were both cooking at Marbles Restaurant, a landmark dining establishment under the ownership of Ruth Pretty and David Jordan at the time. They decided to establish Word of Mouth as a catering business on Bond Street, but quickly outgrew the space. Five years later, they moved to the current location on Molesworth Street, in the heart of Thorndon. This new space allowed the company to open a cafe and expand the fast-growing catering company to where it is today.
